Amplitude is a powerful event analytics tool that provides businesses with valuable insights into user behavior and engagement (and the whys behind it). It provides a central hub for collecting, analyzing, and understanding user behavior across all digital touchpoints (websites, apps, etc.). You can see how users navigate your product, identify pain points, and understand which features resonate most.

When you integrate Blueshift and Amplitude, you can:

Prerequisites

Before integrating with Blueshift, you will need to set up your Amplitude account.

Export event data from Blueshift to Amplitude

Set up an Amplitude adapter for event export

To add an Amplitude event export adapter in Blueshift, complete the following steps:

  • Sign in to the Blueshift app and click App Hub in the left navigation menu.
  • Go to All Apps, search for, and select Amplitude (Event export).
  • Go to Analytics Apps and select Amplitude (Event export).
  • In the Amplitude configuration page, click +ADAPTER to add an adapter as a new data source. The page also lists any adapters that are already configured.
  • Add a Name for the adapter.  The adapter's name helps you identify the integration if you have multiple adapters.
  • Provide the following details for integration:
    Field Description
API Key The API key for your Amplitude account project
  • Click Save to add the adapter.

Next step

To create an export event task, navigate to Customer Data > Events in the left navigation panel and click Export Events. If you would like more information on this, please refer to event exports.

Send user cohorts to Amplitude

You'll need to enable this integration in each Amplitude project you want to use.

You can sync Amplitude Cohorts as Customer Lists in Blueshift. Blueshift supports both email and customer_id as the identifier for creating customer lists. You will need to map the Identifier field for the integration in Amplitude to either email or customer_id.

Blueshift setup

  • In Blueshift, navigate to Account Settings > API Keys.
  • Copy the User API Key (1) and Blueshift API Password (2) to your clipboard.

  • Select Blueshift, then click Next.
  • Choose the connector that you have set up in Amplitude.
  • Choose the sync cadence.
  • When finished, save your work.

Locate your cohort in Blueshift

  • Navigate to Data > Customers > List.
  • Find cohorts synced from Amplitude with nomenclature - [Amplitude] {Amplitude cohort name}: {Amplitude cohort ID}.
  • You can use these lists to create segments and further activate Audience Syncs or Campaigns.

  Note

The identifier used to sync the cohort from Amplitude to Blueshift may not be unique in Amplitude, which can result in duplicate values. Blueshift automatically removes duplicates, which may lead to fewer users appearing in Blueshift compared to Amplitude. To ensure all users are synced, you can download the audit report from Amplitude and compare it with the customer list in Blueshift, focusing on unique values.

Export campaign activity from Blueshift to Amplitude

For exporting Campaign activity data to Amplitude, you can reuse the adapter setup for Event exports to Amplitude.

Next Steps

Setup the campaign activity exports by navigating to Account Settings > Campaign activity exports. For more information on this, please check the Export selected campaign activity.
