External fetch

With external fetch, you can dynamically include content fetched "just in time" from external servers before sending an in-app message. This allows you to deliver highly personalized and up-to-date content to your users.

To use external fetch:

  • Select an external source to integrate dynamic content into your in-app messages.
  • Add one or more external fetch creatives, each configured to call a unique API endpoint.
  • Use the data returned by these API endpoints in your messages by incorporating it into your template with Liquid for dynamic customization.

This feature is ideal for delivering content such as real-time pricing, inventory updates, user-specific recommendations, or other data-driven messages.

For detailed instructions, please take a look at the external fetch guide.

  • You can view personalized product suggestions tailored for individual customers based on the selected recommendation algorithm.
  • Additionally, explore predictive scores and affinities associated with a customer's profile, which can help you refine recommendations. Use this information to decide which products or suggestions to include or exclude from the message sent via the Cloud App channel.
  • Predictive attributes are stored under user_metrics, making them easy to access and apply.

Use Liquid merge tags to dynamically incorporate this data into your message to enhance personalization. Click here for a step-by-step guide on using Liquid template language.

Preview data

The Preview Data section is specifically for testing and visualizing how your template content will look. This data is not part of the actual template but helps simulate real scenarios for accuracy.

  • Event JSON: Enter an event JSON or select an event type, such as Interest Alert or Transactions, to automatically load the event JSON into the preview.
  • Transaction: The related transaction details will appear here if the selected user belongs to a transaction replay segment. For more information, please refer to Transactions.
  • Sample event: Select an event payload to preview the data that can be used in your template. If the template is part of an event-triggered campaign, this feature allows you to personalize messages using the triggering event's data.

The email preview displays how the message will look for the selected user, providing a clear view of how the personalized data is rendered in the final message.
