Navigate to Account Settings> User Management to invite users and manage their permissions. Admin users can also resend Blueshift account invitations to users who have not accepted prior invitations. You can access the User Management tab here.

  Note

Your account has a specified number of seats, which you can see under the User Management tab. To purchase more seats, contact sales@blueshift.com.

User actions

You can use the actions menu for a user to complete the following tasks:

  • Resend an invitation to a user who has yet to accept an invite.
  • Deactivate a user to free up a seat.
  • Activate an inactive (deactivated) user.
  • Archive a user.
    • When you archive a user, the user is removed from the User Management tab.
    • The user is also removed from the 'Author' filter drop-down lists on the Blueshift platform.
    • You can view archived users using the 'Archived status' filter on the User Management tab.
    • You can also Unarchive a user if required.
  • You can change the user's role from the Role drop-down list, which displays default and custom roles.

Add users

You can invite a user to your account and assign a role to the user from the User Management tab. You can assign the user a default or custom role you have set up.

Default roles

There are several default roles available in Blueshift:

  • Admin - full access.
  • Manager - everything except viewing the User API key and provisioning users.
  • Author - can only access the Creatives menu.
  • Analyst - view-only access.
  • Operations - similar to Manager, except the user cannot access user data (no segment export, view user profile, access detailed user-level campaign activity, etc.).

The following table lists the default roles available in Blueshift and the permissions for the roles.

Custom roles

The Manage Roles tab allows you to view and create custom roles with specific permissions, including tag-based access control to restrict user access based on designated tags. This especially benefits organizations with multiple brands or regions, allowing for secure and organized role-based permissions.

Tag-based access control

When assigning tags to a user role, you control access to specific entities (like campaigns, templates, and shared assets) tagged accordingly. Here’s how it works:

  • Access based on tags: If a user role has a tag assigned, the user will only access entities with that tag. For example, if users can access "Brand X" and "Region 1" tags, they will only see campaigns, segments or templates labeled with those tags.
  • Access without tags: If users create an entity, they can access it even if it is not tagged. However, users can only interact with untagged resources if their role allows it, ensuring creators maintain essential access to their work. If permissions for their role change or a tag is added to the entity later, their access may be updated to reflect those changes.
  • Combination rules: You can configure tags using AND/OR conditions within a single role, combining multiple tags to create more refined access layers. This can be based on tags from the same or different folders.

This streamlined approach to tag-based access enables multiple user roles to securely manage different aspects of your account, ensuring only relevant content is visible to each team member.

For example, a Product Launch Specialist role can be restricted to campaigns with specific tags attributed to new product launch campaigns.

The following entities support tag-based access control:
Campaigns, Syndications, Segments, Recommendations, and all types of Templates (e.g., Email, SMS, Push, In-App, Cloud Apps).

Creating a custom role

  • Click + Custom Role in the top right corner to add a custom role.

  • Enter a name for the custom role.
  • Select the permissions for the role from the drop-down list for each entity.
  • You can select relevant Tags for access control if you need them.
    • AND/OR conditions: Configure tags to apply access rules based on an AND condition (where all selected tags must apply) or an OR condition (where any selected tag applies). You can also create a combination of AND and OR conditions, allowing flexible access control. Tags from the same or different tag folders can be combined with OR conditions to provide broader access options within the same role.

  • Click the Save button on the top right corner to save the role.

When you invite a user to your Blueshift account, you can assign that user the custom role through the Manage users section.

The entities listed below support tag-based access control. You can limit access to these entities by associating tags with a custom role.
