Each shared asset you create has a Reference String, which is used in an email template to include the shared asset. You can include multiple shared assets in an email template.

Use in the subject line or preheader text
You can include the reference string of a shared asset in the subject line or preheader text of an email template.
Note: You can only use shared assets of type Subject & Preheader in the subject line or preheader of an email template.
Example 1:
In the following example, the shared asset "Sale offer" is used in the subject line by including the reference string <shared_asset>bsft_sale_offer</shared_asset>.
Example 2:
In the following example, the same shared asset "Sale offer" is used in the preheader.
HTML editor
You can include shared assets of type HTML or Rich Text in the email content when you use the HTML editor.
Example: In the following example, the shared asset "Footer Generic" is used in the HTML code by including the reference string <shared_asset>bsft_footer_generic</shared_asset>.
Visual editor
You can include shared assets of type HTML or Rich Text in your email content when designing a template using the Shared Asset tile in the visual editor.
- Open the Content tab and select the Shared Asset tile.
- Drag the tile to the desired row in your email layout.
- Click Pick Shared Asset to open the asset picker.
- Select an asset from the list to view its preview on the right, then insert it into your template.
