Recommendations Studio is where you create, manage, and preview your recommendation schemes. This page walks you through the interface so you know where everything is before you start building.
Navigate to Recommendations Studio
Go to Recommendations in the left navigation panel. This opens the recommendation schemes list, where you can view all existing schemes, search by name, or create a new one.
Click any scheme to open it in the editor. To create a new scheme, click +SCHEME > Photon Editor > Enter recommendation scheme name.
Scheme editor
When you open a recommendation scheme, the editor displays three tabs: Properties, Content Blocks, and Data. You can select a preview user from any tab to see how recommendations render for a specific customer.
Properties tab
The Properties tab displays basic information about the scheme:
- Scheme name
- Tags and tag folders for organization
- Messaging templates that use this scheme
- Campaigns that use this scheme
Use this tab to understand where a scheme is being used before making changes.
Content Blocks tab
The Content Blocks tab is where you design the recommendation scheme. Add one or more content blocks by selecting a recipe, then configure how items are selected, filtered, and ranked.
For step-by-step instructions, see Build a recommendation scheme.
Data tab
The Data tab lets you pass additional context to the recommendation scheme at runtime. Use the attributes from the JSON request as input to the recipe — for example, a seed list of items, categories, exclusions, or user attributes. This is especially relevant for event-triggered campaigns and live content templates.
Preview users
Select a preview user from any tab to see how the scheme renders for a specific customer. The recommended items displayed in the Content Blocks tab depend on the selected preview user, so choose a user that represents your target audience for accurate previews.
