Blueshift’s Template Assistant helps you create, edit, and personalize templates with AI-driven tools. It streamlines complex tasks so you can focus on producing customized content across different use cases.

  • Email Template Assistant: Edit and personalize email HTML templates using AI.
  • Live Content Assistant: Create dynamic, real-time content based on audience data.
  • Shared Asset Assistant: Modify reusable components for consistent application across templates.
  • Template Snippet Assistant: Make precise edits to specific sections of templates.
  • Template Content Assistant: Using a pop-up interface to work with templates when embedding AI on the screen is impractical.

Template Assistant for editing templates

The Template Assistant is available in the following editors, supporting a variety of use cases:

  • Email Template Assistant
  • Live Content Assistant
  • Shared Asset Assistant

When you open any of these editors, the Template Assistant interface will appear on your screen and display the welcome message. You can type or use voice commands (prompts) to add elements, apply styles, or personalize content based on dynamic user data.

For example, to adjust the styling of a section, type: “Change the background color to blue and the font to Comic Sans.”

The assistant will automatically generate the necessary HTML or CSS to meet your request.

  • Apply Changes: Click the Apply Changes button to review and finalize the changes.
  • Undo Changes: Use the Undo Changes button to revert any changes made in the assistant.
  • Redo Changes: After performing an undo, the Redo Changes button will appear and will be available until the next prompt is given.

The Template Assistant provides quick suggestions, such as "Add a product grid" or "Personalize content," offering one-click solutions for everyday tasks.

  Mentions in chat

You can use the '@' symbol in chat to insert shared assets or images.

Simply type @ and select one of the available options (Shared Asset or Image) to open the respective picker modal. Once you select an item, the assistant will automatically replace the mention with the corresponding tag or URL.

Template Content Assistant

The template content assistant provides a streamlined way to interact with the AI assistant on pages where embedding the chat interface isn’t practical. Its floating design ensures it remains accessible without consuming valuable page real estate.

  Note

The Template Content Assistant is currently supported in the visual editor for email, shared assets, and live content templates.

How to use

  • Navigate to the visual editor template.
  • Select the relevant content and click the Content Assistant button on the content editor toolbar.
  • Enter your prompt in the modal and preview the suggestion.
  • Accept the changes to update the content or Liquid syntax in the template.
  • Use Cmd+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows) to undo changes.

Template Snippet Assistant

The template snippet assistant allows you to work on specific sections of the HTML template instead of the entire content. This addresses some key challenges:

  • Users may not always want to interact with the whole template, especially after initial prototyping.
  • Large templates can exceed the assistant's size limit, but this restriction can be bypassed by selecting smaller sections to work on.
  • Reduces the processing time as the focus is on a selective portion of content.

The assistant defaults to working with the entire template if no specific content is selected. Changes are applied to the selection or, if none exists, to the entire content.

How to use

  • Select content: Highlight the specific HTML section you want the assistant to work on.
  • Start chat: Click 'Start A Chat' to open the assistant for the selected portion.
  • Apply changes: Prompt and accept the suggestions to replace the selected content.

Before you get started

To make the most of the Template Assistant, we strongly recommend following these steps before you begin:

  1. Update the template name: When you open a new template from the AI Assistant Admin page, it's a good practice to update the template name in the Content tab.
  2. Add product recommendations: Navigate to the Data tab to include relevant product recommendations to enhance personalization.
  3. Set a subject line: Craft a compelling subject line that will grab your audience's attention right from the inbox.
  4. Include a preheader (optional): Adding a preheader provides a sneak peek of the content and can increase open rates.
  5. Save the template: Remember to save your template after making these changes to ensure all updates are captured.

  Note

For your first prompt, the Template Assistant applies default settings from the AI Assistant Admin page. If you'd like to change these settings, please prompt the assistant to override them.

Example:
Imagine the default font is Roboto with a blue background, but you'd like to adjust the font, color, and layout. Here's how you can prompt the assistant:

  • "Replace Roboto with Arial."
  • "Change the background color to light gray (#F4F4F4)."
  • "Create a 2-column layout with an image on the left and text on the right."
💡 Quick tip
Set key template guidelines like colors, fonts, and indentation in the AI Assistant Admin page to ensure every new template aligns with your brand's style.
